As Pattaya, Thailand, grew into a major tourist resort, its coastal water quality deteriorated rapidly and the tourists began to leave. A computer model has been used to predict the combined effects ofthe sewer system, the wastewater treatment plant and the behaviour of the coastal waters on water quality.
