Enterprise development in Africa – strategies for impact and growth

Most enterprise development efforts in Africa have had little impact in terms of producing fast-growth enterprises that generate jobs. This article suggests ways in which African governments and donors could learn from other countries, where increasing competition in the markets has spurred governments, among other things, to develop policies to promote modern SMEs, to foster subcontracting, and to develop financial packages for expanding successful small businesses. -
