Development opportunities for women in small business in Jamaica
01.03.1991
Jamaican women are less likely to find employment in the formal sector than men, so many resort to self-employment in a limited range of occupations. This article describes a survey revealing that in spite of a relatively high educational level, few women had received training, formal or informal in their areas of business enterprise. There is a particular need, it is argued, for specialized programmes for women in business, in order for them to achieve their economic potential.
