Institutional Development is recognized as an important element in projects and programmes dedicated to the sustainable alleviation of poverty, the promotion of gender equity, and achieving social justice for marginalized populations. Commissioned by the Netherlands Organization for International Development Co-operation (NOVIB), the report provides an overview of NGO institutional development (ID) in the context of sub-Saharan Africa. Its primary purpose is to assist European NGOs to formulate policies and strategies toward the ID of the NGO community.

Brian Pratt
Brian Pratt is one of the founding members of INTRAC and is the Executive Director. He has worked in many countries as a consultant and researcher for NGOs, and multi- and bilateral agencies. The primary focus of his publications and consultancies is on strategic policy issues for NGOs and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E).
