Strategic management and small firms – a survey of rural firms in Mexico
01.09.1996
This article explores whether formal business planning methods are relevant to small firms in developing countries. The study is based on a survey of 51 rural small firms in Mexico. The sample was categorized according to the way they managed information, and six case studies are presented. What is important is the awareness of entrepreneurs of the financial and market position of the firm, and not the degree to which these data are formally recorded.
